Step 3, Connect MetaAPI to the Copier
Step 3 in the connection process--here's how to connect your MetaAPI.cloud API instance to the copier.
- You'll need to make sure you have deposited a balance in MetaAPI first.
- Then you need your API key, your account ID, and your account name.
- That's it, that's all you need!
Automatic Symbol Detection
When you connect your broker account, TelegramFX Copier automatically scans your broker's available symbols and configures two things on your behalf:
- Broker Symbol Suffix — Some brokers append a suffix to their symbol names (for example, EURUSD becomes EURUSDm or EURUSD.a). If your broker uses a suffix, our system detects it automatically and applies it to your symbol map. You don't need to know what it is or enter it manually.
- Gold Symbol — Most brokers use XAUUSD for gold, but some use GOLD. Our system detects which format your broker uses and maps it correctly, so gold signals copy without any manual configuration.
- If your broker uses standard symbols with no suffix and XAUUSD for gold, no changes need to be made.
Extra Stuff You'll Want to Know
- Depending on your broker, if you are trying to connect when markets are closed, or during periods of low volatility, there is a chance your broker or metaAPI may initially refuse your connection. Our system also checks market hours before trying a connection. It's much better to connect during regular hours. For more information visit here.
- Your Metatrader broker server location MUST MATCH the geographical location of your MetaAPI servers. In other words, you will need to use a MetaTrader broker server located in either US or EU. If they do not match, MetaAPI will eventually kick you off for broker/server mismatch, **and refuse further connection. You can read more about this here.**
- If you try to make more than 5 connection attempts in a short period of time, the API system will rate-limit you for 30 minutes.
- If you try to add more accounts than you have license slots, our system will lock your account and you will be unable to trade.
- If you need to delete your metaAPI account, do it in the copier first, then delete in metaAPI. If you don't follow these steps, you will get a database error when trying to delete the account.
